High performance anti-block diatomaceous earth mineral
Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is a soft, siliceous sedimentary rock containing the fossilized skeletal remains of diatoms. Diatoms are single-celled algae found in oceans and waterways. DE is used as a mineral filler in paints, polishes, stuccos, coatings and plastics. DE is lightweight, porous, and durable with many unique properties beneficial as a filler.
DE-BRITETM is not just a filler but improves the overall performance and properties of paint. DE-BRITETM is a “natural grade” (non-calcined) diatomaceous earth from a freshwater source mined in Oregon USA.
The DE-BRITETM deposit contains a variety of fossilized Melosira Species of freshwater diatoms, with a greater number of pores per diatom, and hence greater pore volume.
DE-BRITETM can be used in masterbatches of resin up to 50%, along with antioxidants and other additives. DE-BRITETM is superior to talc and has a low refractive index like nephaline syenite. Matting and opacity is improved because the size and structure of the diatoms diffract light and it passes through the film.,
