Many of the company’s employees are aboriginal and have been with the company for several years. Many of these individuals are in supervisory positions. All employees at APL are treated with respect and given equal opportunity for advancement. Indigenous representatives have also been elected by their fellow employees to the Advisory Committee for Employees. This Committee is considered the most senior and influential committee within the company and meets regularly with senior management.
At APL we place a strong emphasis on continuous learning and training for our employees. Company policy is that all business related courses are paid for by Absorbent Products Ltd. In addition to first aid and WorkSafeBC courses, the company also sponsors computer training, pest management and control courses (to assist in research activities), export and import management, transportation, and human relations courses. In our commitment to our valued employees, we have also had consultants work with individuals to improve their management skills.
At Absorbent Products Ltd., higher education and the growth of our employees are valued. Therefore, in addition to company sponsored courses and seminars, we also pay tuition costs for employees looking to further their education.
We also find great value in developing knowledge as an organization as a whole. Currently we are involved in the LEAN process. We work with third-party representatives who advise us on how to eliminate waste within our organization without affecting the value that we provide our customers.
