Where does our Diatomaceous Earth come from?
Our Diatomaceous Earth comes from a fresh water deposit found near Kamloops, British Columbia. This unique deposit of Diatomaceous Earth is naturally enhanced with Calcium Bentonite (also known as Montmorillonite Clay).
Is our Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade?
Our product meets both FOOD GRADE and FEED GRADE specifications. Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth means that the product meets Food Grade specifications and can be used as a filtering aid or processing aid in food, but cannot be in the end product for human consumption. We are not allowed to put FOOD CHEMICAL CODEX GRADE on the Canadian packaging as CFIA views FOOD CHEMICAL CODEX GRADE and FEED GRADE products differently for products registered for the purpose of feed.
Currently our RLE Diatomaceous Earth is only registered as a feed additive for the purpose of an anti-caking agent or pelleting aid in feed not to exceed 2% of the animal’s total diet. This product is completely safe for all animals.
What is the difference between food grade and
pool grade diatomaceous earth?
The difference between pool grade and food grade diatomaceous earth is in the way that the natural diatomaceous earth is treated. Pool grade diatomaceous earth is only meant for use as a filtration aid. It is treated at a very high temperature (calcined) and contains a high percentage of crystalline silica. Food chemical codex grade diatomaceous earth is treated at a much lower temperature (non-calcined). It contains a very low percentage of crystalline silica (Red Lake Diatomaceous Earth contains less than 1% crystalline silica) and is therefore not harmful to humans or animals.
Is our Red Lake Earth Diatomaceous Earth safe?
Our Red Lake Earth Diatomaceous Earth is completely safe for all animals.
Can I use Red Lake Earth as a natural insecticide?
We are currently in the process of expanding our Red Lake Earth products for the purpose of a natural insecticide. Recent tests have proven to be successful against the following insects:
Bed Bugs, Silver Fish, Ants, Merchant, Grain and Confused Flour Beetles, Darkling Beetles, Flies
Other benefits have shown useful in gardening.
Where can I purchase Red Lake Earth Diatomaceous Earth?
Red Lake Earth is available at the better feed and agricultural supply stores throughout Canada. If your local feed store does not carry our RLE please ask that they bring it in for you.

Although there are several web-sites out there that indicate all the other benefits of Diatomaceous Earth and the benefits of using DE for human consumption there are no DE products registered with the EPA, FDA or CFIA for Human Consumption. We advise that you do your own research on the benefits of Diatomaceous Earth and make your own decisions. Choosing to use the product for uses other than what it is registered for is done solely at the risk of the end-user. We are not in the position to advise the use of our RLE products for any purpose other than what the product is registered for and what is indicated on the packaging.

Stall DRY® Absorbent and Deodorizer IS THE SOLUTION!
How does Stall DRY work?
Stall DRY absorbs moisture and urine and controls odors and helps to reduce the harmful affects of ammonia.
By controlling odors and ammonia you will notice a reduction of flies in the stalls.
Stall DRY is made from a natural diatomaceous earth deposit enhanced with Calcium Bentonite that can absorb more than its own weight in liquids. Stall DRY has a low pH which means it will attract ammonia molecules and neutralize them. When sprinkled over bedding, it will absorb moisture from the bedding, keeping it dryer so the bedding can be used longer.
How do I apply Stall DRY?
Sprinkle a light coat over the stall floor (wood, concrete, dirt etc). Spread additional Stall Dry on wet spots until the surface is dry. Leave this in place. Place the bedding in the stall. Daily as you are cleaning the stall, take out the solids and sprinkle about 16 oz on the wet spots. Allow a short time to dry and put the bedding back in the stall. The bedding will usually last an extra day or so. Sprinkle on manure piles regularly to reduce flies.
Stall Dry is a natural product that is listed by the Organic Material Review Institute for use in organic production. Diatomaceous earth is recognized as a non-chemical fly control material. Stall dry also binds nitrogen and phosphorus which helps to control odors and reduces runoff which may have a detrimental affect on groundwater.
Where can I purchase Stall DRY?
Stall Dry is available at the better feed and agricultural supply stores throughout the United States and Canada.
THE SAFE WAY TO CONTROL
AMMONIA AND MOISTURE
Can I use BARN FRESH for Organic Production?
Barn Fresh is listed with OMRI, the Organic Materials Review Institute for use in Organic
production.
What are the benefits of BARN FRESH?
Barn Fresh has a pH of around 5
• Neutralizes ammonia
• Can absorb its own weight in moisture
• Light weight and offers more volume
• Has less than 1% free crystalline silica
• Is not WHMIS controlled
Barn Fresh helps to reduce stress and diseases in animals through controlling ammonia levels. When you control ammonia you may notice the following benefits:
• Better weight gains and increased production
• Lowers mortality and condemnation rates
Why is it important to control moisture?
Drier litter and pens gas off less ammonia, increasing productivity
• Reducing moisture inhibits bacteria growth and spread of viruses
• Creates an unsuitable habitat and breeding ground for many insects including
House flies and Darkling beetles
• Easier to clean out and spread drier manure. Aids in composting.
What are the dangers of high levels of ammonia?
•Decreased animal health, including higher incidences of Respiratory disease,
Ammonia Burns or Breast Blisters, and Coccidiosis
•Decreased broiler growth, feed conversion rates and egg production
•Poor working environment for employees in poultry houses
•Significant air pollution
Lowering ammonia emissions saves producers money by:
•Lowering ventilation costs while maintaining feed efficiency
•Lowering heating costs, especially in winter months
•Less condemnations
•Lowering production costs per pound
How do I apply Barn Fresh?
Can be applied using a drop-style fertilizer spreader or by using a large plastic pail with a
pattern of holes drilled in the bottom
• Can be applied either over top or under bedding materials.
• Best results achieved when product is applied regularly as part of your housekeeping
routine at an average rate of 36 kg/1000 sq. ft.
Where can I purchase Barn Fresh?
Barn Fresh is available at the better feed and agricultural supply stores throughout the United States and Canada.
