Activated Barn Fresh Poultry Litter Ammonia Control

A SAFE and COST EFFECTIVE way to manage ammonia odor and moisture levels

What is the difference between Barn Fresh and
Activated Barn Fresh?

What other types of acids are used in litter management and what are the risks of these acids?

Both Activated Barn Fresh and Barn Fresh are OMRI Listed.

Currently, these products are OMRI Listed in the United States however, Barn Fresh is in the process of being registered with OMRI Canada.

Activated Barn Fresh (ABF) contains citric acid which contributes to the product's ability to reduce the pH of litter. This reduction in pH slows the production of ammonia from the animal waste (birds excrete uric acid, mammals excrete urea, which in both cases breaks down into smelly ammonia).

ABF also absorbs moisture which helps to control insect populations, as they tend to need water in the environment in order to breed.

What is Citric Acid?

Citric Acid is an effective non-GMO acid naturally found in citrus fruits.

Common Uses for Citric Acid include:

• In pharmaceuticals as a pH adjusting agent

• In cosmetics

• As an additive & preservative in foods, jams, candies and sodas

What are the Benefits of Citric Acid?

• Does not contain Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO)

• Classified by EPA as 4A (minimal risk) and Generally Recognized
   As Safe (GRAS)

• Active ingredient in pesticides, disinfectants, sanitizers and
  fungicides.
